FRESH APP. FRESHER FEATURES.

We’re freshening up your iOS experience with version 6.1 – here’s what you’re getting, and why you’ll want it.

Bye Bye Burger (Menu)

New look. New nav. And fewer taps between you and your movies & TV. Version 6.1 removes the hamburger menu in favor of putting your most commonly used menu items across the top and bottom of your screen.

So, rather than a long scrolling list down the left side, you now have access to Spotlight, Search, Watch, potential Offers, and your Settings across the bottom of your screen – all within thumb reach.

Across the top of your screen, you’ll find navigation that lets you access Spotlight, Disc purchases, Showcases (curated collections), and Trailers.

Get Down With Downloads

This new version of our app also brings back rental downloads! Users will have to be on iOS 12 or above to ensure the ability to download and playback purchased titles and rentals.

Downloads are easy and allow you to watch without using data or wifi. Once you’ve purchased or rented a title tap the Download button, select a quality, and go. You’re only limited by the storage on your iOS phone or tablet.

Navigating The New Nav

Watch, the most important and most used item is right in the middle. This is where you’ll access your Vudu collection, over 6,000 Free movies & TV shows, and any Downloads you have on your device.

To the left of that, Search will let you search across movies and TV no matter which sub-tab you’re in, so no need to get specific, we’ll take care of it.

And tapping on Offers will take you to your My Offers, where you can redeem any offers you earn from purchasing select movies. This replaces the My Offer and bell menu items of the previous app version.

Disc To Digital

Don’t worry converters, you can still use Disc to Digital by pointing your iPhone browser to vudu.com/disc. From there just hit the Convert Disc link and boom goes the dynamite.

Find more detailed instructions on how to convert, here.

You can get iOS app 6.1 now from the App Store.

TURN WALMART GIFT CARDS INTO MOVIES & TV

THE GIFT THAT KEEPS ON STREAMING

Walmart gift cards aren’t just for barbeques, bookshelves, and batteries. The secret is out: Walmart gift cards are 100% redeemable on Vudu. No transfers, no complicated instructions, and no trip to the store. Just enter your code and start watching new releases and classic hits before you can say “self-checkout.”

If you’ve got old cards lying around, dust them off for an epic Mission: Impossible or Harry Potter movie marathon, or catch up on the latest season of Game of Thrones or Modern Family. Need a gift for the person who’s hard to buy for (or still hasn’t watched the show you keep recommending)? Walmart gift cards are valid towards any movie or show on Vudu, so giving the gift of laughs, thrills, and chills has never been easier. (We’ve also got Digital Movie Cards if you’re looking to give a specific movie.)

Walmart gift cards and eGift cards are available at Walmart stores and online at the Walmart.com Gift Card Center (we’re particularly partial to the Vudu-branded version).

Once you or your giftee have your card, just follow the instructions below, kick back, and enjoy your choice of over 100,000 movies and TV shows:

1. Sign in or sign up for Vudu on the web (you just need to be 18 or older with a valid email address).
2. From the drop-down account menu, choose “Payment Info” and then select the “Walmart or Vudu Gift Card” tab.
3. Enter the code and pin located on your card. You can add up to 5 cards.

That’s it! Purchase or rent, and then watch your favorite movies and TV shows, anytime, anywhere. Protip: Download purchased or rented titles to your mobile device with our Android or iOS app.

Vudu now plays on Apple TV!

The Vudu Player for Apple TV! Watch your movies + free movies + your Ultraviolet collection!

Play thousands of free movies on us titles, your movies & TV, and your UltraViolet collection

Surprise!

Starting today, you can download our new Vudu Player for Apple TV from the Apple TV App Store. That’s right, you heard it here – second. Ha!

The Vudu Player for Apple TV lets you play over 4,000 free Movies On Us titles, as well as your existing Vudu collection, natively on 4th generation Apple TVs with tvOS 10. And the Vudu Player is the first (and only – just want to reiterate that) player that gives you access to your UltraViolet digital locker on Apple TV (#humblebrag).

You want more, more, more? Ok

Apple TV now joins the ever-growing list of Vudu-enabled devices that give you anytime, anywhere access to your movies & TV. Whether you’re an all Apple household or a mixed device one, now you can access Vudu from more of your favorite devices – including Apple TV, Chromecast, Android and iOS mobile devices, smart TVs, Blu-ray players, gaming consoles, streaming devices like Roku, and the web.

We’ve gone native

The Vudu Player lets you play without AirPlay, swipe and tap your way though over 4,000 free Movies On Us titles with the Apple TV remote, and even ask Siri to search Vudu and your collection for the movie or TV show you want to watch. You’ll also be able to Wishlist any titles you want to save for later – an experience that parallels the Vudu iOS app.

New to Vudu?

New users will want to head over to vudu.com/signup to set up your free Vudu account online. App Store guidelines prevent us from offering a sign up option from the Vudu Player.

While you’re on the web signing up, you can also buy or rent any of our over 100,000 titles and link your existing UltraViolet and Disney Movies Anywhere accounts for instant access to your collection. Or just hop on Apple TV right away and take one of the over 4,000 free Movies On Us titles for a spin.

Someone’s having a big Monday. We’re just having a Monday.

But Don’t worry, we’ve got an app for that

There’s a lot going on just south of us in the city of San Jose. Big stuff. Important stuff. And announcements. Lots of announcements. So we’ve decided to share one of our own.

In honor of all things Apple today, we thought we’d share a couple of screens from our Apple TV app that’s in development. We want to bring you the best possible app and Vudu experience, so we’re still tweaking and fine-tuning – but stay tuned for a fall release.

I’ll just leave these here…

Vudu Disc to Digital is now in our mobile apps

Disc to Digital

Get your discs into the cloud easily. No magic needed.

I am excited to announce that our Disc to Digital service is now available in our mobile apps – making converting your discs to digital movies easier and more convenient than ever. Impossible, you say? Never, we say.

That’s right, starting today, you can convert your Blu-ray and DVD discs to digital movies right from your compatible phone. Convert your entire collection, whether it’s 10 discs or 100, for a nominal cost and a few clicks – only $2 for DVD to SD and Blu-ray to HDX, or just $5 to upgrade from DVD to HDX.

You’ve spent a lot of time and effort building your collection, and Mobile Disc to Digital gives you the opportunity to enjoy all the adventure, awe, inspiration, and feels from you Blu-ray and DVD discs with all the added benefits that digital movies have to offer.

Going digital lets you watch your movies anytime, anywhere, download your titles for offline viewing on your mobile device, and never worry about scratching those discs again! It’s pretty much the coolest technological advancement since putting a giant “laser” on the moon – you know, The Alan Parsons Project.

Convert with a click

Using Mobile Disc to Digital is as easy and familiar as taking pictures of your food, if by food you mean the UPC on your Blu-ray or DVD cover. That’s pretty much it – scan the UPC, choose a resolution for conversion, and then watch your new digital movie. Ta-da! It’s not complicated. It’s Vudu.

With Mobile Disc to Digital, you’ll have access to our entire Disc to Digital library at launch – that’s about 8,000 movies. So round up your collection and scan away right in-app.

There are a couple of things the app will need permission for including your camera and GPS, as well as making sure your billing info is up-to-date in your profile, but the app will guide you through everything.

So now you have two ways to conveniently convert your physical disc collection in the comfort of your own home, with our new Mobile Disc to Digital option on both our Android and iOS apps, or on your home computer or laptop by scanning your disc with our existing Vudu To Go app.

To get Mobile Disc to Digital, simply update or get the latest Vudu app in Google Play or the iTunes App store. You can also get more information or links to our apps, here.
