Is the $5.99 credit available to new vudu customers on the PC? I don’t have a boxee but I’d like to try it out.

I just wanted to comment on how expensive it is to rent movies considering that they’re streaming. I mean for the price being charged for an HD rental you can just about be able to subscribe to unlimited rentals on other services. Also, in most cases, it’s more expensive than going to a movie rental store to rent it. I believe if Vudu wants to make it in this highly competitive market, there needs to be a drastic price drop.

I tried it out last night. The 1080p looked great. I have Netflix via my Blu-ray player but I’m anxious to get it on my Boxee Box too. I haven’t found Netflix video quality to be as good. If VUDU get’s movies quickly after they leave the theater it could be a money saver for me. Two tickets to a movie plus something to eat is getting to be outragiously expensive. By the way, they do have cheaper movies on a “B-list” for $2.99.

I’m running Boxee on a Mac mini. Does this hd/hdx announcement by vudu bring the hd formats to this hardware – or just the proprietary Boxee hardware?

@Boxee on Mac mini, HD and HDX formats are available via Boxee Box. Boxee on PCs/Macs only supports SD playback.

I decided to give Vudu on my BoxeeBox a try last night since I had the credit on my account (thank you so much). I watched “Inception” and the HDX quality was absolutely fantastic. It surpassed all of my expectations.

Even though the price point is on the high side I do expect to use the service on occasion. It is convenient and easy. Thank you for working together with the BBox team to bring your service to the device!

Just to clarify, I just called 1-888-554-VUDU…the credit for VUDU in your PC is not $5.99 its $3.99 since VUDU claims we can only see SD on PCs.
Good to get the credit but VUDU should clarify its $3.99….
also, why do i need to call to get the credit? shouuldnt it be automatic when i sign in?
