NEW THIS WEEK: HOTEL MUMBAI, THE AFTERMATH, AND MORE

DARING DRAMAS

In 2008, world news was rocked by a four-day string of terrorist attacks carried out across the city of Mumbai, India. One of the most prominent landmarks attacked was the Taj Mahal Palace Motel, a luxury resort whose clientele included prominent figures from both India and abroad.

Amidst the bombs and bullets unleashed upon the hotel and its occupants, the Taj Mahal’s staff risked life and limb to aid and assist the hostages until the special forces arrived, and Hotel Mumbai recreates their story in taut and compelling fashion.

With performances from Dev Patel and Armie Hammer, Hotel Mumbai is a historical thriller that opens the doors to a stirring tale of defiance in darkness.

Peace, like war, can sometimes make for strange bedfellows. In the wake of the Allied occupation of Germany, a grieving British mother who’s son was a casualty of war and a widowed father whose wife met the same fate seem hopelessly at odds. Forced into cohabitation, their mutual loss could be the only bridge to understanding.

The Aftermath is a thoughtful portrait of parents and children, husband and wives, and enemies and allies with surprises at every turn. Watch the clip below to find out how Keira Knightley brought her own experience as a new mother to bear in this complicated drama.
