NEW THIS WEEK: A DOG’S WAY HOME, HOLMES AND WATSON, AND MORE

HOMES AND HOLMES

Dogs are our best friends, our closest confidants, and, when it comes to the movies, and endless source of smiles, tears, and warm fuzzies. A Dog’s Way Home is no exception, with all of the fur, fun, and feels that dog-lovers and movie-lovers expect from a canine-friendly film.

Bella, portrayed in voice-over by Bryce Dallas Howard and on-screen by pitbull-mix Shelby, is far from home but always in the thoughts of her heartbroken owners, and her journey back to where she belongs is a stirring tale fit for the whole family.

It’s not the most faithful to the source material, it doesn’t contain the most shocking revelations, and it’s not exactly the most highbrow interpretation of the legend of Sherlock Holmes. Holmes and Watson is a wild, reckless, ridiculous romp through the classic detective stories, with goofs, gags, and guesswork galore.

Holmes (Will Ferrell) and his trusted companion Dr. Watson (John C. Reilly) are a bit out of their depth with the clock counting down towards a royal assassination plot. They may not know what they’re doing, but getting a clue has never been more entertaining.

NEW TO RENT

Today’s catch of the day: a pulse-pounding, rip-roaring, superheroic thrill ride courtesy of his royal highness Aquaman.

She may not be what the bosses think they’re looking for, but this street-smart and capable career-woman is ready to pull of one hell of a Second Act.
