New Releases This Week: The Rite, The Roommate, and The Mechanic!

This week sees the release of 3 new titles available to view from the comfort of your own home!

The Rite – “The Rite” is a supernatural thriller that uncovers the Devil’s reach to even one of the holiest places on Earth. Inspired by true events, the film follows seminary student Michael Kovak (Colin O’Donoghue), who is sent to study exorcism at the Vatican in spite of his own doubts about the controversial practice and even his own faith. Wearing his deep skepticism like armor, Michael challenges his superiors to look to psychiatry, rather than demons, in treating the possessed. Only when he’s sent to apprentice with the unorthodox Father Lucas (Anthony Hopkins)–a legendary priest who has performed thousands of exorcisms–does Michael’s armor begin to fall. As he is drawn into a troubling case that seems to transcend even Father Lucas’s skill, he begins to glimpse a phenomenon science can’t explain or control…and an evil so violent and terrifying that it forces him to question everything he believes. Available beginning May 17 to own in SD or rent in SD, HD, and HDX 28-days before Netflix!

The Roommate – A psychological thriller about a deranged college freshman (Leighton Meester) who becomes obsessed with her new roommate (Minka Kelly). Available beginning May 17 to rent and own in SD, HD, and HDX!

The Mechanic – Arthur Bishop is a ‘mechanic’ – an elite assassin with a strict code and unique talent for cleanly eliminating targets. It’s a job that requires professional perfection and total detachment, and Bishop is the best in the business. But when his mentor and close friend Harry is murdered, Bishop is anything but detached. His next assignment is self-imposed – he wants those responsible dead. Available beginning May 17 to own in SD, HD and HDX!

So far, all of the movies that I have wanted to watch on this service are not available for rent! You have to “own” them. What gives?!?! If I wanted to buy movies, I wouldn’t be using this service!!!

ShawnC & James – At this time, due to the contracts we hold with each of the major motion picture studios, “The Mechanic” is only available to own. Usually, if the title is not available for rent on the day of release, it will become available to rent 1-4 weeks after being released. This all depends on the contract we hold with the studio and will vary by title.

Also, the article does not mention “The Mechanic” being available to rent.
