Surprise!

Starting today, you can download our new Vudu Player for Apple TV from the Apple TV App Store. That’s right, you heard it here – second. Ha!

The Vudu Player for Apple TV lets you play over 4,000 free Movies On Us titles, as well as your existing Vudu collection, natively on 4th generation Apple TVs with tvOS 10. And the Vudu Player is the first (and only – just want to reiterate that) player that gives you access to your UltraViolet digital locker on Apple TV (#humblebrag).

You want more, more, more? Ok

Apple TV now joins the ever-growing list of Vudu-enabled devices that give you anytime, anywhere access to your movies & TV. Whether you’re an all Apple household or a mixed device one, now you can access Vudu from more of your favorite devices – including Apple TV, Chromecast, Android and iOS mobile devices, smart TVs, Blu-ray players, gaming consoles, streaming devices like Roku, and the web.

We’ve gone native

The Vudu Player lets you play without AirPlay, swipe and tap your way though over 4,000 free Movies On Us titles with the Apple TV remote, and even ask Siri to search Vudu and your collection for the movie or TV show you want to watch. You’ll also be able to Wishlist any titles you want to save for later – an experience that parallels the Vudu iOS app.

New to Vudu?

New users will want to head over to vudu.com/signup to set up your free Vudu account online. App Store guidelines prevent us from offering a sign up option from the Vudu Player.

While you’re on the web signing up, you can also buy or rent any of our over 100,000 titles and link your existing UltraViolet and Disney Movies Anywhere accounts for instant access to your collection. Or just hop on Apple TV right away and take one of the over 4,000 free Movies On Us titles for a spin.

On deck: A double dose of pecs, some Puddin, and a king with no worries

Baywatch: Extended, Theatrical, and bundles

Baywatch is available now on Vudu! Extended Edition and exclusive bundle also available!

Sun’s out guns out. Times two. (Or would it be four?) Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron flex their biceps, pecs, and six-packs in this hilarious and self-aware reboot of the TV show that defined the ’90s.

Don’t worry, all the elements are there. And by that, we mean sun, surf, sand, and of course, action and campy jokes. (Ok, and bikinis.) Get the bundle with both the Theatrical and Extended Cut, or be a baller (see what we did there?) and watch it in all its shimmery glory in 4K UHD. If that’s not enough (but wait, there’s more), we have a Vudu exclusive Baywatch (Theatrical) and Pain & Gain (I watch a lot of movies…I know what I’m doing) bundle that’ll pump you up for just $19.99.

DCU: Batman and Harley Quinn

Disney is also delivering a bit of Hakuna Matata this Tuesday with the release of The Lion King (Walt Disney Signature Collection). That’s right, all your favorite friends and songs are back – but who knows for how long. So if you feel the (Disney) love tonight, then pick it up while you can. You know, because Disney Vault and all.

Fast and Factual

Documentary: McLaren

Fulfill your need for speed with McLaren, a new documentary about the founder of the automotive powerhouse.

You (and I) will probably never own a McLaren (fake it till you make it), but that shouldn’t stop you from checking out this fascinating documentary on the man himself, Bruce McLaren. This is a poignant and fascinating look into his life and must watch for any gear head or car aficionado.

Extra anime added. For free.

Free on Movies On Us

Yes you may have more free anime, watch on Movies On Us

We’re adding more free anime! If you didn’t catch it, we just added more Ranma ½ (up to Season 7), more episodes of Naruto Season 1, and soon, the new series Tiger and Bunny (a universe where a city’s superheroes have sold out to corporate sponsorship and prime time TV) all for free.

New to rent

Alien: Covenant; Everything, Everything; How to Be A Latin Lover

Alien: Covenant is now available for rent on Vudu. You can scream now.

I scream, you scream, we all scream…in space (but does anyone hear us?). Alien: Covenant is now available for rent, and it’ll definitely have you screaming. It’s freaky and creepy, and Michael Fassbender does a pretty dope job in dual roles. What dual roles? Watch and find out.

How to Be a Latin Lover teaches you all you need to know, rent it tonight on Vudu.

The drama/romance movie Everything, Everything is also available (a boy meets girl who lives in a bubble – metaphorically and literally – love story). Or have some laughs with How to Be a Latin Lover and get some earnest and well-meaning not-so-pro-tip-pro-tips on being a Don Juan.

THE LION KING, Simba, Rafiki, Sarabi, Mufasa, 1994, (c)Buena Vista Pictures

Get Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in 4K UHD, free movies & TV, new to rent, and more

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in 4K? Ok!

If you didn’t hear, we’ve got Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in 4K UHD with Dolby Vision HDR and Atmos sound! Now you can watch all of the galaxy-gallivanting antics with more clarity and color than you ever imagined (and as James Gunn wants you to watch it).

Get it now and watch instantly, and then join us on August 18th at 6 p.m. (PT) for our #VuduViewingParty and experience fun, trivia, and prizes. Why? Because we’re family.

Riding dirty with Tour de Pharmacy

The Tour de France happens later this week. Yeah, we aren’t going to watch either, because we are going to watch Tour de Pharmacy instead!

This hilarious mockumentary about a fictional 1982 Tour de France where every competitor dopes (wait, mockumentary or documentary?) is from the comedic mind of Andy Samberg and features a ton of great actors and cameos (and yes, that’s John Cena).

Relationships are hard, free movies are easy

Check out our For Better…Or Worse collection on Movies On Us and laugh or cry with a collection of free movies that examine the frailty of relationships.

Live a double life with Confessions of a Call Girl and Concussion, turn back time with Cher in Moonstruck, get house buying tips in The Amityville Horror, and get caught in a love triangle with Brothers.

Sometimes you feel like a rental

Sometimes you’re curious about a movie, but not enough to buy it. We get it. That’s why we’ve got rentals. And you don’t even have to leave the house (or the couch) to get them.

Get new rentals like Snatched (Amy Schumer’s parody of tourist kidnapping movies), The Dinner (dinner that includes a side of dark family secrets), King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (anarchy in ancient times, and a lady in a lake), and Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul (for those of you seeking some family-friendly PG hilarity).

For what it’s worth, we just watched Going In Style – a geriatric heist movie with charm and laughs, like Oceans 11 in a large print edition – and it is hilarious. Sure there are some predictable old man gags and jokes, but the delivery is as spot on as age spots. And who doesn’t love Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, and Alan Arkin.

As always, you get 30 days to start your rental (because we know stuff comes up), and 24-72 hours to finish once you start.

Watch while it’s in theaters, without the theater

Shark Week may be over, but we’re keeping it alive with Open Water 3 (although we can’t say the same for the people in it). The premise hasn’t changed much through the series – friends go on a vacation and are left in shark infested waters – but it looks like a swimmingly good time (at least more so than watching Michael Phelps swim with sharks).

You can also check out the battle-filled medieval fantasy flick, The Veil, or watch some tech-toting Millennials get owned by their own apps in horror flick Bedeviled.

New this week on Vudu: Movies, TV, and Free Movies

Watch it today: Alien: Covenant, The Wall, Everything Everything, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul

We’ve been colonized, and we actually feel pretty good about it because it means Alien: Covenant has landed. Not only does this movie get us closer to the nitty-gritty of how the Xenomorphs came to be, but it does so in a delightfully frightening and bloody way. It’s got facehuggers, chestbursters, and a lot of freaked out colonists running around like chickens with their heads about to be chopped off. (Because they will be.)

And for fans looking to get a little more, you can also get an Alien: Covenant and Prometheus Bundle on Vudu!

If that’s not enough… 1) maybe don’t be so greedy, and 2) lucky for you, you can get the Walmart Exclusive gift set that includes Blu-ray, DVD, a limited edition t-shirt (size XL only), and an HDX digital movie – with free shipping! Be sure to purchase the Disc + Digital option.

You can also check out other new titles, like The Dinner, a thriller about sinners (based on the best-selling Dutch novel of the same title); the touching, coming of age love story Everything, Everything; the deadly, cat and mouse sniper story, The Wall; the off-beat comedy How to be a Latin Lover, and the kid-favorite Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul.

Silicon Valley is Bach(manity)

We went to Comic-Con, and now we’re going to Hooli-Con with Season 4 of Silicon Valley – a comedy that hits close to home for us (literally, because we’re in Silicon Valley). Pivot your movie watching for a bit and get the entire season now.

Watch free comedy on Movies On Us

Like to laugh? No? Oh, well… so anyway, we’ve got a ton of great free comedy on Movies On Us. Free as in zero dollars.

Guffaw with Gallagher, nyuk it up with Nick Cannon, get some side-splitting laughs with Bob Saget, or have a hoot with DL Hughley.

While you’re there, you can also check out our HORRORible Vacations horror collection, New TV collection, and our Kung Fu Masters collection.

New rental: Sleight

Part sci-fi and part drama, Sleight uses more than sleight of hand to win you over. Following a street magician who’s got a little more up his sleeve, Sleight takes you on an imaginative and intense journey. It’s got some great performances, including a more than magical Jacob Latimore as Bo, and is worth a look.

New Movies and TV Shows on Vudu this week

Now on Vudu: King Arthur, Snatched, Rick and Morty S3, and The Simpsons S4-19

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is available now on Vudu!

Get a new twist on an old king with King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. Arthur’s story is already more legend than lore, but Guy Ritchie and Charlie Hunnam shed all that to create their own legend (like that he was raised in a brothel). It’s got a lady in a lake, a sword in a stone, and all the Guy Ritchie style action you can handle.

Snatched is available now on Vudu!

While King Arthur is snatching swords from stones, Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn are getting Snatched while on vacation in South America. In this comedy, this mother/daughter odd couple have to work together to escape their kidnappers, the jungle, and their baggage with each other – hilarity and inappropriately awkward jokes ensue (would it be Amy Schumer if they didn’t?).

Rick and Morty S3 and The Simpsons S4-19 are available now on Vudu!

On the TV front, Rick and Morty jump dimensions and show up on Vudu with Season 3, available now by episode or Season Pass (in all its philosophizing and alcohol metabolizing glory). The Simpsons are also here and crowding the couch with Seasons 4-19 (only a gazillion more seasons to collect!).

Rent now: Ghost in the Shell and The Boss Baby

Rent The Boss Baby on Vudu today!

Ghost on the rental box be the boss of your rental with Ghost in the Shell and The Boss Baby on Vudu this week.

Don’t interrupt movie night. Rent, watch, and go to bed without returning a thing with Vudu. You’ll always have 30 days to start any rental, then you’ll have 24 hours to finish Ghost in the Shell and 48 hours to finish The Boss Baby.

Watch it free: Your favorite Stars of Gen X

Get your favorite Gen X stars in some of their greatest performances free with Movies On Us.

Watch The Company Men, and much more, free on Movies On Us!

Watch Ben Affleck take on the realities of the new economy when he’s downsized in The Company Men, adorkable underdog Jason Segel and Ed Helms learn to be happy with life in Jeff, Who Lives at Home, and Maggie Gyllenhall and James Spader get all 50 Shades before it was cool in Secretary.

Pre-order: Atomic Blonde, Dark Tower, Jumanji

There are some big titles hitting the theaters this week and that means they’ll be available for pre-order starting on Friday.

Pre-order Atomic Blonde on Vudu starting Friday!

Charlize Theron is kicking butt, hitting hard, and taking hits in Atomic Blonde, based on the graphic novel The Coldest City. This looks like a full-fledged adrenaline ride and we couldn’t be more excited.

Pre-order The Dark Tower on Vudu starting Friday!

Stephen King comes to life in The Dark Tower, a film adaptation of his book series of the same name. Watch Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey battle it out for the fate of the universe on the big screen, then pre-order it for your screen (any of them, we’re on almost all of them).

Pre-orer Jumanji on Vudu starting on Friday!

And it looks like the curse got bored with being a board game and decided to become a video game in this evolution of Jumanji (the game has evolved!). Robin Williams will always be our favorite, but seeing Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Heart together again (Central Intelligence!) means serious laughs.
