What’s new this week, a blonde bombshell, and free movies

The (Viking) world will be yours

Yeah, yeah, we know what you’re thinking – it’s the History Channel. But let’s not forget that history is filled with drama, violence, and lots of other things that make great TV.  This popular series tells the tale of historical hero Ragnar Lothbrok and his rise to King of the Vikings with some very interesting (and bloody) storylines.

Right now, you can get a special “box set” of the first four seasons for 66% off, and pre-order season five. It’s time to Viking up.

What’s the deal with Seinfeld?

The show about nothing is on Vudu. That’s right. The entire series – man hands, doing the opposite, being master of your domain, yada yada, the puffy shirt, muffin tops, Newman!, and more – is all here. So while there’s no soup for you, there’s definitely lots of Seinfeld for you.

This rental is the bomb

If you’re looking for explosive action, Atomic Blonde delivers. Rent this hard-hitting action flick that pits Charlize Theron against…well, basically everybody. Think John Wick, except now he is a she and her name is Lorraine Broughton – and her bullet count (and body count) are everything we’d expect from an action flick this nuclear. Here comes the boom indeed.

Watch free movies – Fight for Justice Collection

Justice is worth fighting for, but you know what you don’t have to fight for? Free movies. Watch Kurt Russell solve a quadruple-homicide in Dark Blue, Jean-Claude Van Damme in Universal Soldier, a one-eyed Jeff Bridges in a great remake of True Grit, Dwayne Johnson rock his hometown in Walking Tall, and a bunch of other great movies for free.

You got five on it – Spend $25, Get $5 Back

The weekend is here, so here’s another reason to watch more movies

It’s November! That means Thanksgiving, falling back from Daylight Savings Time, and PSLs (well pumpkin spiced everything it seems nowadays).

And in case you hadn’t heard, it also means getting $5 movie credit next month when you spend $25 this month.

Simply spend a total of $25 before the end of this month, and come December we’ll slide right into your DMs with $5 movie credit. Think of it as your reward for surviving Daylight Savings Time. A fall back kickback, if you will.

About 150,000 reasons to get this deal

I mean, let’s be honest. Out of our over 150,000 titles, there are probably a few movies or TV shows you were eyeing – maybe Despicable Me 3 or American Assassin. Why not pick them up and get a little something back? Or get make your dollar stretch even further by shopping any of our sales and doubling down on deals. Savings and $5 movie credit? Give me a big slice of that pie.

Pick up a Jack Reacher bundle, a Ride Along bundle, or some classics with a Mean Girls/Clueless bundle (on Fridays we buy bundles), or any of these other 2-movie bundles for under $15 and you’re more than halfway there.

We’ve also got a super Marvel Sale going on that’ll put you on your way to $25 in spend. Because after that, it’s just a couple rentals or maybe something from the $6.99 Monthly Deals sale (choose from nearly 200 movies) – and you’re golden.

There are some restrictions. Any credits you use won’t count toward your $25 in minimum spend and tax doesn’t either. (Yeah, life isn’t always fair #firstworldproblems) Also, pre-orders will only count if they’re charged in November, limit one per account, yada, yada, yada. Full terms and conditions can be found here.

This week is nuts: Watch The Nut Job 2 and pre-order A Bad Moms Christmas and Thor: Ragnarok

Also, watch Wind River and rent The Dark Tower, Kidnap, and Patient Seventeen

Movie titles don’t get much better than Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature. I mean really, how can you not want to watch this movie. (OPP = Other People’s Pistachios). So gather the scurry (yes, there is a name for a group of squirrels) and watch this adorable sequel (squeak-quel?) this weekend. No kids? No problem. There’s plenty of humor in it for kids at heart too.

Also dropping today is Wind River, a crime thriller that drops the temperature on Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen as they work together to solve the murder of a young woman that’s as brutal as the Wyoming winter.

New to rent

Perhaps you were locked in a dark tower and missed The Dark Tower in the theaters. This adaptation of Stephen King’s novel of the same name pits Idris Elba (The Gunslinger) against a vengeful and destructive Matthew McConaughey (deceptively named Walter) in a supernatural battle for the universe. Saddle up and rent it today, cowboy.

We’ve also got Kidnap, staring Halle Berry as a mom on a mission to rescue her kidnapped son. Not to be confused with The Call, which also stars Halle Berry helping a kidnap victim – but this time as a 911 operator. (Pro-tip: Don’t let Halle Berry watch your kids.)

And if you’re up for some conspiracy theory and little green/grey men, check out Patient Seventeen, a documentary that follows a surgeon who claims to remove microchips embedded by aliens from their human abductees. #thetruthisoutthere

Pre-order galore

It’s almost that time of year again…that’s right, it’s almost time for snow, shots, and Santa. The Bad Moms are back with A Bad Moms Christmas, and we’ve already got our fingers on the pre-order triggers for this Friday. (Sip on that spiked eggnog.) This movie looks as hilarious and inappropriate as the first and we’re not ashamed to admit that we can’t wait to watch it.

Know what else we can’t wait to watch? Thor: Ragnarok. Aka the adventures of Thor and Hulk. (We know each other. He’s a friend from work.) We’re also excited about the elements of the Planet Hulk comic book storyline that have been added. But we hear there’s a bit of Bifrost chaos with the bridging of other pieces of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so we’ll see how that goes. Pre-order starts Friday.

Speaking of which…Watch free Marvel’s Avengers: At It Again

How convenient, free Marvel to hold us over while we wait for the Thor movie to come out. Coincidence? You decide. But it’s not like you can be mad at free titles like Thor Animated Movie: Tales of Asgard, Planet Hulk, Ultimate Avengers: The Movie, Doctor Strange, and more. All free and all awesome.

Free Cars 3 Family Movie Night Activities

Burn rubber this weekend with Cars 3 and Vudu

Start your engines, the weekend is here. And even though it’s a race to get as much done as possible before the yellow warning flag signals Monday, consider shifting to a lower gear and taking time for some family fun with a Cars 3 movie night – complete with free activities the whole pit crew can enjoy.

Get movie night on track by getting Cars 3 if you haven’t already. Pixar has outdone themselves with the animation in this third installment of the beloved Cars franchise, so you should totally check it out in 4K UHD – and if your set-up is Dolby Vision capable, well, then you’re operating on some high-octane goodness.

Before the main event, you can do some pre-race warm-up laps with coloring sheets of your favorite Cars 3 characters, including Lightning McQueen, Jackson Storm, and Cruz Ramirez. You can also learn some fun facts about the film with Nat Stats. Or if you’re ready to get bumped up from Thunder Hollow to the Piston Cup, then try your hand at the Crazy Eights card game featuring the fearsome Miss Fritter.

Then when you’re ready, line up at the start (pro-tip: go for the pole position at the end of the couch) and enjoy the movie. And when you’re done, take a victory lap with some of the great bonus features in the Vudu Extras tab. So tune up, tune in, and we’ll see you at the races.
