Watch Daddy’s Home 2, Same Kind of Different As Me

Plus new to rent and free movies

What daddy issues?

Semi-dysfunctional co-dads Brad (Will Ferrell) and Dusty (“Marky” Mark Wahlberg) are back to make us laugh at the perils of fatherhood. And this time, Daddy’s Home 2 doubles down on daddies with John Lithgow and Mel Gibson as the dads’ dads (respectively) for double the dad jokes and dad bods.

Indie, but worth checking out(ie)

Don’t miss these great movies that didn’t get a huge marketing budget. Diverge is a post-apocalyptic thriller that follows a man who is given a unique opportunity to prevent the end of the world. Part sci-fi and part morality tale, it reminds us a little of 12 Monkeys – minus crazy Brad Pitt.

Keep Watching hasn’t gotten much hype from the studio, but this home invasion thriller just might have you hyperventilating. It’s got the whole hidden camera voyeur motif, a family trapped at home, and all the trappings of a great trapped-victim-fights-back-bloodbath.

And it may have subtitles (yeah, yeah, we know), but Extraordinary Mission has so much action that you might not even care. Follow the action as a police officer who goes undercover as a drug cartel member finds himself getting too deep into the role. If you like Infernal Affairs and classics like Hard Boiled, you’ll dig this.

Same, same, but different

For something a little different, Same Kind of Different As Me packs an emotional wallop and delivers a touching story of empathy understanding. And it’s got some big names delivering the big message, including Greg Kinnear, Renee Zellweger, Djimon Hounsou, and Jon Voight.

Now available for rent

Get any of these newly available rentals and take up to 30 days to start them.

Your favorite moms you’d like to party with are back, and Christmas better watch out. A Bad Moms Christmas gives us more of our favorite bad moms and throws their moms into the mix (seems like adding parental units is the new secret sauce for a sequel). Hilarity ensues.

We’ve also got the red-hot Only the Brave, which pays homage to the 19 Hotshots firefighters who perished in the Yarnell Hill Fire in June of 2013; and Subrubicon, George Clooney’s twisted dark comedy of a father who finds himself in a set of unfortunate circumstances with the mob.

Free movies you’ll want more of

Free gets saucy with our Hot, and, uh, Steamy Collection on Movies On Us. Watch the sexy and daring Secretary, the hilarious comedy Afternoon Delight, season 1 of British dramas Lip Service (TV-MA) and Queer as Folk (TV-MA), and more.

Or check out our Laughing Through the Dysfunction, Psychokillers, and other collections.

More football for your “Super Sick Monday”

HD

Well, looks like some congratulations are in order. It was a great game (with a bit of a rocky start…2 missed PATs and a missed field goal?), but the Eagles came out on top. Hats off guys. We’ll be waiting for our beer. (Philly, Philly!)

But after a great game like that, we’re not quite ready to give up on football yet. So we thought we’d put together a list of some of our favorite football movies to keep the mood alive – you know, for those of you feeling under the weather today, cough, cough.

And if you missed the Solo, Mission Impossible, or Infinity Wars trailers (or any of the other trailers), head over to our Facebook page to check them out.

Fly like an eagle

Of course one of the first movies that comes to mind is Invincible. How could you not love this true story of a bartender turned rookie receiver for the Eagles despite not having played college ball.

Other “pigskin” classics (btw footballs were never actually made of pigskin) we love that are based on true events include Rudy (I’ve been ready for this my whole life!), We Are Marshall (What day is it? Gameday!), Friday Night Lights (Be perfect!), The Blind Side (No. He’s changing mine.), and Remember the Titans (We want some mo’!).

Medulla oblongata

Of course, who could forget the hilarious and super quotable, The Waterboy (You can doooo iiiiit…). Bobby Boucher FTW!

Other great football comedies we love are The Replacements (Pain heals. Chicks dig scars. Glory…lasts forever.), Varsity Blues (Let’s be heroes), Gridiron Gang with The Rock and Xzibit (Yo dawg, heard you like football, so we put football in your football), and don’t forget Wildcats (the oldie with Goldie, Wesley Snipes, Woody Harrelson, and LL Cool J) and Necessary Roughness (fumbalaya, fumbleruski).

Hard Hits

If you’re looking for something a little more serious, things get a little more serious in Any Given Sunday (You find out life’s this game of inches, so is football.), seriously romantic in Jerry Maguire (You had me at hello), and seriously real-life in the documentaries Undefeated and ’85: The Greatest Team in Football History (daaa’Bears).

Watch Roman J. Isreal, ESQ, Wonder, Tyler Perry’s Boo 2: A Madea Halloween

Plus new rentals and free survival movies

All rise

To tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth, you should probably watch Roman J. Israel, Esq. We won’t throw the book at you if you don’t, but you’ll be missing out on some brilliant acting by Denzel Washington as an idealistic defense attorney who is constantly battling a corrupt system, only to be corrupted by it himself. Retain his services starting tonight, on Vudu.

Don’t be scurrred

It’s just Madea. Tyler Perry’s lovable Madea is back in Tyler Perry’s Boo 2! A Madea Halloween. (Come on Tyler Perry, do you have to put your name in all your movies?) Who cares if it’s not Halloween anymore, scary good laughs are always in season – so whatever.

Wonder how he looks that good?

Becuase you can watch Wonder in up to 4K + HDR.  Fall in love with this inspiring story of Auggie, a kid born with facial deformities, as he navigates his first year of public school. It’s tough, poignant, and wonderful all at the same time, and you can watch it now on Vudu.

Your weekend project

It’s not the happiest place on Earth, it’s just next to it. But that doesn’t mean it’s close to it either. The Florida Project takes a hard look at a marginalized and ignored part of society through the wonder and imagination of a child’s eyes. Watch this beautiful but tough to swallow film that critics and viewers agree is a must watch.

Be A Rock God

When you make a deal with the devil, don’t expect things to go right. While that pretty much sums up American Satan, it doesn’t do any justice to just how bad things can get. You’ll just have to watch this horror/drama (and a devilishly good Malcolm McDowell) to find out. Now available for rent.

Free Survival Tips

Looking to survive the work week? Look no further than these free movies on Movies On Us. There’s plenty of great movies about people having a worse week than you.

Watch a family reunion take a turn for the worse when a group of merciless killers crashes the party in You’re Next, a Black-Ops agent take revenge for a double-cross in Haywire, a crazy class of Japanese high-school kids battle to the death (and serve as the inspiration for The Hunger Games) in the cult classic Battle Royal, and the animated version of the epic poem Beowulf.

Don’t worry there’s plenty more free titles in our Survival of the Fittest collection, as well as thousands more on Movies On Us.
