Facebook and Twitter Now Integrated With VUDU

March 2, 2010 in New Features, VUDU, VUDU Labs | Comments (10)

Another delicious feature from the VUDU team: You can now share your movie ratings on Facebook and Twitter directly from your VUDU enabled TV or Blu-ray players, with just once click on your remote.

And VUDU gives you an immediate preview of your Facebook post (Twitter preview coming soon), so you can see what your friends and followers will see.

As you’d expect, your Facebook and Twitter movie rating posts are linked to that movie’s detail pages on our web site.

But there is a sweet and clever feature: if you access the Facebook or Twitter App on your VUDU enabled TV or Blu-ray player with VUDU Apps, you are only one click away from watching a movie rated by a friend: All movie ratings posts are live within VUDU and clicking on the movie title in Facebook or Twitter will take you directly to that movie in the VUDU Movie service.

We will drive Facebook and Twitter integration deeper into the VUDU Movie service in the near future. Please share your ideas of how to best leverage social networking within our platform – just leave a comment below.

Well first of all you guys should make sure this feature works well. I keep getting an error when entering my facebook / twitter ID & Password. I think this might have something to do with all of the letters being in caps. As for now… nothing works as planned. This feature seems useful indeed.

    Kierre –

You are able to use lower case letters for your password. At the bottom, beneath the listed numbers, you should see the option ‘abc’ – this will change the letters from upper case to lower case.

I can get this this to work for Twitter but not Facebook. I logged in successfully and configured the app at http://apps.facebook.com/vuduapp/

My Facebook page is private, but Audible.com and Flixster both update my Facebook account with purchases and reviews. What do I need to for this to work on FB?

i would love to see a partnership and implementation with HULU.com … i would love to watch some of the programing they have avalable on my TV set, or Projector… Its a win win… you bring them new customers, and they get more commercial views, and we get tons of new media to view….

It would have been nice if early adopters of the set top box were rewarded with new features.

I went through the rather laborious process of entering my Facebook credentials (I assume that is cached), saw my ugly mug pop-up on screen (which tells me that it successfully identified my account), submitted my comment without error – but nothing ever showed up on Facebook. Disappointing…

By the way, like most households, there are more than one Facebook in our household. The next time one of us watches a movie will we be able to select an account without re-entering all the credentials to decide which Facebook account to use? Having my kids post their comments on my Facebook account is going to ruin my street cred (and vice versa) and without support for multiple accounts in the household it would be a pretty half-baked feature. Does this exist?

I am a new user of vudu, i opened my account earlier this week. I was searching around titles and have not been able sort by distributor. I am a really big fan of Warner movies, especially catalog titles, and I was hoping there was a way to separate movies by which are Warner titles. Can anyone help me?

For the record I rated another movie through Facebook and again it failed (see my previous message). Again, everything looked good in terms of the Vudu experience, including my account information being displayed onscreen, but it just never showed up on Facebook. I guess I am done with that feature :-(
