Wait, Does VUDU Look Different to You Today?
Yes! Yes it Does! Today our next generation interface will be pushed to most enabled devices. VUDU 2.0 is optimized for HD quality and to help you discover your next favorite movie even faster & more enjoyably. Everything you loved about the existing VUDU is the same – quick access to the hottest new releases, Rotten Tomatoes reviews, linked filmographies of cast and crew – is now even better.
Here is what you will find in the new UI:
-Improved browsing and navigation
-Faster access to more great movies
-Recommendations based on your viewing history
-A 2.0 interface optimized for HD viewing and next generation controllers
This will be automatic, no downloads or discs or extra clicks. If you have any questions or need more details you can find it here in our FAQ.
We are currently working to update VIZIO TVs & Samsung devices to the new 2.0 interface — we expect the update to roll out to those TVs and devices soon.
Take a look & let us know what you think here on our Facebook page.

Stil no love for us Canadians though. Vudu sucks!
No change on my Vizio BluRay player..
Any ideas when vudu will be available for boxee users outside of usa?
@Gary, we’re working to rollout to VIZIO as soon as possible.
@Alex, VUDU is only available to USA customers at this time per our agreements with studios. We’ll pass your suggestion along to the VUDU team.
Vudu looks like garbage. I just looked at your site to see if it may be a good alternative to Netflix. It’s gonna cost me $4.99 to stream Inception in HD? Are you insane? I can get the Bluray at Redbox for 5 nights for that price. Glad to see I can cross Vudu immediately off my list.
As soon as you guys start offering a monthly plan like they do at Netflix, I will use Vudu exclusively. I watched an HDX movie and it sure convinced me who has the best service. I have a Samsung Blu-Ray player I use for access, so I will be very interested to see what happens when you roll out the new interface for my machine….
When will this be updated on my Vudu Box?
Vudu is still the best deal for us. we only watch a couple of movies a month and the selection is much better then Netflix.
@Dan, we hope to have all VUDU enabled devices running the new UI by end of February.
I don’t want a monthly plan, if I did I’d subscribe to Netflix instead. I like the current system, I don’t rent many movies a month but I like to be able to get them in good quality when I do. I’d rather get this than the unlimited low resolution movies Netflix offers. Please don’t become another Netflix.
why is your site impossible to browse on a macbook. Enter and arrows don’t work and the site is beyond frustrating.
screw it
I think that an option for a monthly plan is def. necessary to target other consumers than the occasional movie watcher. I currently have netflix and I wont change until the monthly plan is offered. I agree that netflix does have an issue with its distributing of its movies but I still rather pay monthly and keep netflix, than pay hundreds of dollars just to watch movies.
What happened to Pandora?
So OVER vudu. Had the original box which randomly stopped working in February or March then watched via computer twice now it doesn’t work. Customer service says it’s never vudu’s problem, only mine. Ranging from my router, my ISP, my video card, my adobe flash player. Really?! Every computer in my home (6) suddenly has the same problem yet I can watch streaming video from Netflix and even broadcast stations like NBC’s the office with no problem. Done! Netflix and Redbox are clearly the winners. It doesn’t matter if you get them sooner if I cannot access them!
Reiko–I apologize that you have encountered issues using the VUDU service. If you are willing, I would like to help with the troubleshooting process. Please message dhatman on our forums at forums.vudu.com or call us at (888)554-8838.
Is 2.0 available for Samsung? All my home devices are Samsung.
Also, my web speed is 14 Mbps. (tested with speedtest.net and similar apps) The Vudu site says I can stream HDX reliably with 4-5 to 9 Mbps but we can’t. We can only get your HD 720 level. Any advice?
Thanks,
Jeff Jordan
Jeff — VUDU 2.0 is available on most devices now. If you still don’t see the new interface, contact our Customer Care team at (888)554-VUDU. Also, for testing your bandwidth, try speedtest.vudu.com – we use a sustained speed test to figure out your bandwidth over a longer period of time (since you are watching movies). If the results come back that you should be able to watch HDX (higher than 4.5Mbps), let our Customer Care team know and they’ll help troubleshoot your issue.
Last I used Vudu it didn’t adjust quality to maintain stream and this caused excessive buffering and pausing the play for a few minutes didn’t help. Many cable companies throttle during peak hours so it isn’t only slower connections that suffer this. For me th……………. is make…………s using Vudu……………………………………………………..anno..ying.
Elliot — You can adjust the quality of your stream at anytime by pressing “pause” and selecting the format you want to adjust to. After your device buffers 3 times during a movie, we’ll ask you if you want to downgrade the quality to continue. As for throttling during peak hours, unfortunately, there isn’t much we can do to prevent that. We recommend contacting your cable company to further investigate the issue.
Why not default auto adjust on the fly a la Netflix. Have options to change manually but many viewers don’t wish to mess with settings. If it works well when they first use it they will like your service. If it buffers 3 times then prompts to degrade quality I’m thinking that is going to be viewed negatively even though by doing so they would be ending up where they started out with Netflix.
Pricing for some movies differs by video quality chosen (eg. more for HDX, less for SD) – I believe Vudu tries to adjust to available streaming bandwidth within a given quality but if it still becomes necessary to drop to a lower quality it’s probably important that they notify the user since the user may have paid for “x” and may now be receiving a lesser quality than “x”.
Vudu sucks. They stole a digital copy redemption, and their customer service is TERRIBLE! They clearly don’t understand where every penny of income comes from.
BLA — We apologize for your initial experience. Which promotion did you have issues with? If you’d like to still redeem the promotion and give us another shot, let us know and we’ll send you an email with instructions.
